Angelina Banovic – Markovska (October 10, 1966) graduated from the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, where she also obtained her Master’s (1999) and Doctoral (2002) degrees in the field of literary theory. She is the author of Interpretative Strategies: Theoretical and Critical Essays (1999), Characters-Antagonists (2001), Hypertextual Dialogues (2004), A Group Portrait (2007) and A Cage of Wrinkles: A Thematic Selection of Contemporary Macedonian Poetry (2007). She is currently working as a docent at the Department of Macedonian and South Slavic Literatures.

 

 

She has been the editor of the ‘Critiques’ section in the first bilingual electronic magazine for literature and other arts, Blesok/Shine, a librarian at the Department of Macedonian and South Slavic Literatures, as well as a part-time literature teacher at the Classical Catholic High School Srce Isusovo (The Heart of Jesus) in Skopje.

She has also acted as the moderator of the following scientific symposia: Ars Poetica and East-West at the Struga Poetry Evenings (2005, 2003); How We Read the Balkans at the Racinovi Sredbi (2001) and was one of the Macedonian representatives at the international scientific gathering The Writing and Understanding of the Balkan History, organized by the Goethe Institute (Belgrade, SRJ, 2001).
